Essential Oils For Anxiety

Essential oils for anxiety.....There are essential oils that can help with anxiety. Let’s find out what anxiety actually is.

According to Funk & Wagnall’s Dictionary anxiety is 1. Disturbance of mind regarding some uncertain event; misgiving; worry 2. Strained or solicitous desire; eagerness. 3. Psychiatry A tense emotional state characterized by fear and apprehension without apparent cause.

I’m going to expound on the psychiatric definition.....

Barlow; Gray & McNaughton, prominent researchers have proposed a more basic distinction between fear and anxiety. According to these theorists, fear or panic is a basic emotion that involves activation of the “fight-or-flight” response of the sympathetic nervous system. This response is shared by many animals. It’s an almost instantaneous reaction to any imminent (about to happen) threat. Its adaptive value is that it allows you to escape from imminent danger.

In contrast to fear and panic, anxiety is a complex blend of unpleasant emotions and perceptions that is both more oriented to the future and much more diffuse than fear. Anxiety has subjective, physiological and behavioral parts. It involves negative mood, worry about possible future threat or danger, self-preoccupation, and a sense of being unable to predict the future threat or to control it if it occurs. Anxiety often creates a state of tension and chronic over arousal, which may reflect readiness for dealing with danger should it occur. It may create a strong tendency to avoid situations where danger might be encountered. However, there isn’t the immediate urge to flee as there is with fear.
