• Develops during middle age in men

• Is rare in younger people, but often more severe in those who develop it before age 30
• Often runs in families

• Also commonly affects other joints: the ankle, knee, wrist, and elbow.

Symptoms of an Attack

Essential oils for gout.....Attacks can occur without warning. They may be triggered by such things as an injury, surgery, consuming large amounts of alcohol or purine-rich food, fatigue, emotional stress, or illness.

Generally, pain suddenly occurs in one or more joints. This often happens at night, which is probably because of metabolic changes that occur when lying down. The pain becomes progressively worse and is often excruciating. This is particularly so when the joint is touched or moved.

The joint becomes inflamed resulting in swelling. It feels warm to the touch. The skin over the joint appears red or purple, tight and shiny.

Other symptoms can include a fever that can reach as high as 102 degrees F, chills, a general sick feeling, and a rapid heartbeat.

There are some essential oils that can help gout. Krill oil and tea tree oil are also helpful.
