Myrrh

2011 Italy Calendars

Myrrh (Commiphora myrrha) originates from Africa, Iran, and Libya. It’s yellow to red-brown in color and has a warm spicy aroma. It has a cooling effect. The resin heals wounds, promotes regular menstruation, and clears the respiratory system.

It's a resin that can be burned and an essential oil is produced by steam distillation. The burning of resins has a deep history throughout the world's many religions and have continued to be used for ceremonial purposes to this day.
