Essential oils in a pure, undiluted state are too highly concentrated to be applied directly to the skin. They are diluted in a base oil, so that they can be massaged or rubbed onto the skin in the correct dosage.

Measurement Guidelines

Minimum to Maximum

Drops of essential oil……………into measurement of base oil

0 – 1 drop……………1/5 teaspoonful

2 – 5 drops………….1 teaspoonful

4 – 10 drops………..2 teaspoonsful

6 – 15 drops………..3 teaspoonsful or 1 tablespoonful

8 - 20 drops…………4 teaspoonsful

10 – 25 drops……..5 teaspoonsful

12 - 30 drops………6 teaspoonsful or 2 tablespoonsful

1 teaspoonful = 5 ml

2 teaspoonsful = 10 ml

3 teaspoonsful = 1 tablespoonful = 15 ml

Approximately:

20 drops = 1/5 teaspoonful of essential oil

40 drops = 2/5 teaspoonful of essential oil

60 drops = 3/5 teaspoonful of essential oil

80 drops = 4/5 teaspoonful of essential oil

100 drops = 1 teaspoonful of essential oil
